Explanation of the Homework Helper Initiative

Background

Since 2004 I have been doing e-Learning, long before the Covid-19 pandemic made it popular.

Over the years I focused mainly on the production of videos (audio-visual memorandums) like these:

Over the years I have also put emphasis on the importance of asking questions, and I have put various platforms in place where children can ask questions when they get stuck.

The problem with questions.

Over the years I have noticed over-and-over again that the platforms for questions are not used nearly as efficiently as I would have hoped it would be.

First guesses about this will always tend to the fact that children are bullied when they ask questions, or that they are simply too shy. I have found, however, the biggest problem is that they do not realize that they are doing the homework wrong….

It is almost as if they believe that, since something was done, it must be correct, and they do not realize all the foundational gaps that exist.

The Solution.

With Homework Helper I require that the children send me daily photo’s of their homework that they have done – whether they think it is correct or not.

I then evaluate the steps for accuracy, insight and comprehension.

If everything is in place, then we are all happy!

If I see a mistake, however, the following will happen:

Chatrooms:
A group will be created (on which the parents must also be) and each question will then be pulled apart on this platform with counter questions and comments.
The idea is firstly to know what the child doesn’t know, so that it can be addressed.

If it becomes clear that the necessary principles are not in place, and no amount of text messages will solve this, some of the videos (audio-visual memorandums of typical questions) from my database will be supplied to be watched.

If necessary, specifically if it is clear that the videos will not have the required effect, a quick online class will be scheduled.

What does it cost?
The costs are R450 per month for daily help, assistance and evaluation of the homework.

In order to know if this will work I will give you a week’s free demo, during which the parents and children can evaluate whether this will suit them.
